How Can You Help Save the El Rey Theater?

We need you! ERTA came into being in Spring 2007 as an emergency response to a sliver of opportunity: the El Rey’s on the market, and we’re trying to act fast!

• Volunteer your time and expertise. We need help with developing a business plan, establishing a non-profit, fundraising, and increasing public awareness. Your ideas and enthusiasm are eagerly welcomed.
• Help plan and execute our “Emergency Downpayment Social” We’re scheduling a festive community kick-off to the “Save the El Rey” fund in September 2007.
• Donate funds through our PayPal account with the North Valley Community Foundation, or directly through ERTA. Donations received through October 2007 are eligible for matching funds through “Annie B’s Community Drive.”
• Talk it up! Tell your friends, council members, family pets, and innocent bystanders that the El Rey needs the support of the entire Chico community. Help get Chico inspired and excited about the El Rey’s potential—and make everybody aware of our town’s potential loss if the El Rey is transformed into offices. Downtown Chico already has 60,000 square feet of vacant office space!
